Ingrid

From my whopping 9 1/2 months of parenting experience, it seems that things happen in waves with child development.  One morning, they can just wake up and do a new trick!  I love the spontaneity.  It's been a pretty big week for Ingrid.  For months now she has been a rolling maniac.  I haven't sat still since January.  She can make it from one end of our house to the other in seconds, but today she crawled for the first time, it was so exciting to see!  She was pissed as hell when she did it, which made it even a little more cute.  We had some toys in front of her that she desperately wanted her hands on, so we watched her get more and more frustrated until she catapulted herself forwards to get them.  Is that mean? :)  Since this morning she has been scooting her little body all over the place!  I can't believe how quickly things change!  She also started saying mama really well the past few days.  Not just in coherently babbling "mama", but really saying it directed towards me.  Also, if we say to her "Ingrid, can you say mama?" She will repeat it back to us (tear).  She can also imitate Michael when he says "YUM" after she is done eating!  She coughs on demand, claps, waves, does "Soooo Big", turns the pages when we read her books, and play's peekaboo........it's just getting more and more fun to be her mommy!

12 more weeks...

I remember much of pregnancy feels like the world's biggest countdown; every passing week was more and more exciting knowing that soon you would be meeting your precious little child.  I specifically remember thinking "Wow, I only have 12 weeks left!!"  It's amazing how fast time flies when raising children (and I'm only 9 months in!).  Today I had a similar thought, except this is now the countdown until my daughter's 1st birthday-where has the past year gone?  Exactly 12 weeks from today my tiny little newborn will be ONE YEARS OLD!!!  A very different countdown, but just as exciting!

Dear Vince,

We often come across interesting finds in our apartments Free Box.  Some of them are worthless, others are worth a lot (KISS water fountain)-and sometimes Michael will even find things to hide around the apartment to scare me senseless.....

Try walking into a dark room to find this hideous majestic statue on top of your entertainment center....

Yesterday Michael brought up a book with a little note inside that made me hope that Vince has found some help.  I'll put this one in the "interesting" category.

Done. Done. Done. Done. Done. Done.

Michael and I have been together for almost 9 years.  In that time we've experienced a lot!  4 years of marriage, 4 different cities, 3 schools, several jobs, 1 daughter......and now he is finally done with school!  Yesterday we attended his commencement ceremony and he received his diploma.  To be honest, I have a real "fight the power" streak in me.  I asked if he HAD to wear his cap & gown, if he HAD to walk ...and during the whole ceremony I found myself mocking the system, the robes, the speeches, the flags etc.  All the sudden, I was caught by surprise.  As the Dean asked the students to ceremonially move their tassels from one side of their cap to the other, and welcomed them into the world of scholars-I found my eyes producing some salty discharge.....tears?!  I couldn't help but think about what a monumental year it has been for us.  9 months of pregnancy, a grueling delivery, a feisty baby, and parenthood-and through it all Michael has remained steadfast.  He never complained about getting up in the middle of the night, or staying up ALL night at times.  He came home from 12 hour days of work and school, and not only had the new responsibility of a family, but then he had homework on top of it all.  I am so proud!  We look forward to what is in store for our future, and hope the next 9 years are just as exciting as the last.  Congrats Michael!

From Me to You

I love old books.  In fact, we collect them.  Old books are beautiful, like pieces of artwork.  Their covers worn and tattered, and the colors muted and dull (just like people).  I stumbled across a book that belonged to Michael's Great Great Grandma Agnes.  It was so beautiful-I had to take pictures!  It's title is From Me to You.  It is a collection of beautiful poems about friendship.

I thought the inside print was so magnificent!  If it were fabric, I'd wear it!

In her own words.

Baby Crafts

I can't help but feed my addiction for embellishment
I suppose I could be addicted to a lot worse things.
A few things in the series of "FLOWERS"

This is an older project, but the same floral embellishment.
Headbands!
