It's Paula Deen's fault.

I called Michael this morning while he was at work to say "Let's decorate for Christmas tomorrow".  In response I got a laugh....the kind of laugh that you do when you try to keep the crazies calm.  Anyway, he thought I was insane, but said we could.  But alas, with this warmer weather I decided to save our christmas decorating for another day...specifically next weekend if it's cold enough! (I love christmas, and want to enjoy my decorations longer then just 1 month!)  It all started yesterday when my mom bought me a Paula Deen christmas magazine.  I love that woman (I'm talking about Paula, but I love my mama too).  Since I flipped through the pages I've been day dreaming about garland, eggnog truffles, and christmas tree's.  It really is my favorite time of the year!  So instead of diving in with the christmas celebrations this weekend, I decided just to satisfy my taste by making some puppy chow, or as I like to call it, Snow on the Mountain (not really, I've never called it that before....but I think it works!)

Tis' the season ya'll (she says with a Savannah twang')

I was looking through Ingrid's baby photo album tonight, and as I concentrated on the photo's of us in the hospital, I felt as if I were actually there, holding her for the first time.  That feeling of pure euphoria overcame me.  Then I flipped to the page when that euphoria and been blanketed by sleeplessness.  I found this picture of Ingrid's first bath time.  She was 1 week old, and I had gotten a total of about 6 hours of sleep that whole week (which is a generous guest-imation).  It's hard to believe that she spent so much time crying, not eating, and not sleeping.  Today she is a happy, energetic, toddler-and it's so easy to forget the reality of that first week home.  The way I look in this picture pretty much says it all...

Family Update

Well...tis' the season I like to call Harvest (unfortunately potatoes don't dig themselves up).  I suppose that's the life of a "farm wife".  I eagerly anticipate it's end, maybe then we can start enjoying more than 1 hour of family time a day!  In the mean time, we are savoring every free moment together.  In fact, last weekend Michael and I celebrated a monumental step in our life's as parents.  We spent out first night solo.  Even though I cried as we pulled out of the driveway, and might have suffered a few mini panic attacks through out the weekend, it is safe to say the getaway was a success.  (More on our mini "trip" later).  In other news Ingrid has graduated to 1 nap a day (tear), speaking really well (new words daily!), running everywhere, and getting from a sitting to standing position with no help.  She is growing up so fast!

With Michael working so many hours, Ingrid and I have been trying to keep ourselves busy.  I'm starting to wonder if the people at Target know me by name now....anyway-this past week my grandparents came over for a little visit.  We miss them so much since moving away-and I think the feelings are mutual!  They had a great time with Ingrid, and I think she had a fun time showing off all her new tricks (speeding walking, talking up a storm..) Here are a few pictures from our time together...
